As the Need Arises...

Extending loving hands to our church family, as the need arises, through prayer, visits, preparing meals, yardwork, simple household repairs/chores and providing transportation.

Back-Door Assistance Program

Persons in need of assistance with their utility bills and other necessities may receive help from First Baptist.  Each week, a staff member is available on Monday-Thursday afternoons to guide anyone in need.  The church entrance is located at the rear of the building on Ashe Avenue.  This ministry is a coordinated effort between First Baptist, the Caldwell County Department of Social Services, public school social workers, Yokefellow of Caldwell County, and other agencies.

Food Bags

First Baptist provides bags of nourishing food for those in need.  If you are hungry, please contact the church by phone or come by for assistance.

Coat Ministry

Each Fall, we work with local school social workers to identify students in our public school system who need a warm coat for the Winter season.

Backpack Program

The Backpack Program assists in providing nutritious food for children to take home over weekends and school breaks, when they otherwise might not have food available. We partner with other local churches to provide food supplies to elementary and middle schools.

Funerals for the Unclaimed

Several times a year, the First Baptist family is invited to participate in a funeral service led by the pastor for individuals whose bodies are unclaimed after death in Caldwell County.  The church also provides a marker for each grave.

Room at the Table

Because Lenoir’s soup kitchen is not open on Saturdays, several area churches provide weekend nourishment.  On the first Saturday of each month at 4:00 p.m., First Baptist provides a hot meal to anyone in need.  Volunteers assist in preparing the food, welcoming our guests, and serving the meal.

Women on Mission

This group of women of all ages meets together monthly to encourage each other, pray for each other, and provide opportunities for personal growth through Bible study, mission projects and fundraising.  The WOM sponsor an Angel Tree each year for area school age children and youth, the annual Easter egg hunt, and raise money for the FBC preschool and other area mission projects.  If you would like to be a part of our WOM, please contact the church office.

Other Mission Involvements

In addition to these primary mission engagements, our church members participate in other missions and ministries, including a summer mission trip each year.  We respond to our community and individuals in crisis with hands-on response, prayer, and financial support.  Missions are lived out daily by our members in their places of work, schools, and neighborhoods.
